Grok Bot is a teammate. You still need a desk.
xAI shipped named bots. The desire is a team. A team still needs a board, a yes before send, and a computer that is yours.

You wanted a team. xAI shipped named Grok Bots. Related, and not the same purchase.
In August 2026 they put a public teammate product on the table. At launch, access sat on SuperGrok Heavy and Cursor Ultra plans that listed around $200 to $300 a month. Pricing moved after that. Check their page before you fight a stranger on the internet about the number. The point is they shipped a bot you can name, message, and leave running.
That is a real product. I am not going to pretend it is a toy so this page converts. If you want a Grok-native teammate on their computer, go buy that. Come back when you want to run a team.
The desire under the demo
Founders do not actually want "a bot." They want Monday to start with the invoices drafted, the inbox sorted, the brief on the competitor, and two taps instead of two hours.
That is a team. Clerk. Mail. Watch. Maker. Scout. Someone (Chief) who designs the work so you are not the one holding the bag of prompts.
A named bot gets you part of the way. Running the team is the rest: a board you can read, a yes before anything leaves the building, models you already pay for, a machine that is yours, mail that comes back to the teammate who started the thread.
Octopus is that desk. Grok can sit on it. So can Claude. So can the OSS models in the $99. The desk is the product.
What you still have to own (even if the bot is good)
A board. Who is doing what. What is waiting on you. What finished at 7am. If the only picture of work is a chat transcript, you will lose the plot the week you hire three. Needs you has to be a column, not a feeling.
Approvals. Research, numbers, drafts: go. Customer, vendor, money: wait. Daily caps so a busy morning cannot become a domain-ending morning. A teammate that is unsure parks the work. A teammate that is sure and still waits is the one you keep.
Bring your own, stack, fallback. Usage fills. Vendors hiccup. One pipe is a single point of "try tomorrow." Bring ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok. No token markup from us. Stack two Claude accounts and a ChatGPT plan. When a plan runs out, the job continues mid-task on the next one. Put drafting on the model that writes and analysis on the one that thinks. That is how a team survives a Tuesday.
A computer that is yours. Files, browser, logins, a disk you can point at. Shared with the world is a different product. Dedicated workspace is the default here. We never train on your data. Keys live in a vault, not in the thread. Receipts show who called what. If you run clients, per-client walls matter. Dedicated VM: talk to us.
Email. Each teammate gets an address. Replies come back to the one who started the conversation. Follow-up that lands in your personal inbox is how work dies in the wrong tab.
Someone who designs the team. Chief of staff, in our language. Learns the business. Writes the jobs with you. You hire, rename, fire. You still edit the brief like a document. The bot does not invent the org chart while you sleep, and it should not.
None of that is a diss. It is the operating system around a teammate. The jobs that fit still need a place to sit.
Fair is fair
Grok Bot is a teammate product. Named. Parallel. A machine. Work that can keep going when you close the laptop. People who wanted a hire instead of a chat box were right to get excited in August.
We are not going to steal their lines or pretend we shipped their bot. We also are not going to do the comparison-page thing where the other guy is secretly stupid.
Here is the honest split. They sell a Grok teammate, on Grok's terms, on Grok's (and Cursor's) plans. We sell a desk where several teammates, on several models, share a board you own. You can bring Grok. You can skip Grok. Same desk.
If your whole company is one Grok lane and you like their computer, you might be done. If you need Clerk on the books, Mail on the inbox, Maker on the calendar, and a stop rule that is yours, you need the desk.
What Octopus is not
We are not a model lab. We do not need you to leave ChatGPT. We do not markup tokens so we can play vendor.
We are not unsupervised. Sending still waits. Spending still waits. Judgment still waits. A teammate cannot be the relationship, the lawyer, or the person who walks the site.
We are not a project tracker with a chatbot glued on. The computer is the point. So is the board. So is the vault.
$99 is OSS models, the computer, the board. Seven-day money-back. Cancel whenever. Export the run history. Dedicated workspace. Per-teammate access. Approvals. Receipts. Own email.
How to choose without a spreadsheet
If you already live in Grok and you want one named hire on their machine, start there. See a Tuesday.
If you want a small team, on the models you already pay for, with a fallback when usage fills, with a yes before send, with a board your partner can read: that is us.
Hire Chief. Hire Clerk. Put Mail on 7am. Watch on Monday. Maker on the call. Require the two taps. Fix the brief when the draft is wrong.
Sign up. Hire your first AI teammate. Bring Grok if that is the brain you like. The desk is still the thing you run the team on.
Straight answers
- Are you saying Grok Bot is fake?
- No. It is a real teammate product. Named bots, a computer, work that keeps going when you step away. We are not here to dunk on that. We sell the rest of running a team.
- Can I bring Grok into Octopus?
- Yes. Bring ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok. No token markup. Or use the OSS models in the $99 plan. Stack accounts. A job continues on a fallback when usage fills.
- What do I actually pay?
- $99 a month for OSS models, a computer, and a board. Your model bills stay with the vendor you already pay. Seven-day money-back. Dedicated VM for agencies is a separate conversation.
